The Ultimate Hidden Truth of the World…: Poster collection

The David Graeber Institute curatorial team is happy to share the artworks created by 14 artists from different parts of the world inspired by the essays collected in the recently published book The Ultimate Hidden Truth of the World… in November 2024.

The Ultimate Hidden Truth of the World… features David’s essays from over two decades, including There Never Was a West, Against Economics, Dead Zones of Imagination and many more, with forewords by journalist and writer Rebecca Solnit, and artist and writer Nika Dubrovsky.

After the publication of the book the David Graeber Institute organised a series of public lectures and online talks inspired by the essays, and the DGI curatorial team, Nika Dubrovsky, Elena Sorokina and Radical Care Collective and the design of Clive Russel (and the  invited visual artists to depict an essay from The Ultimate Hidden Truth of the World…

The style of each poster is very different but the guiding principle, the thinking of David Graeber, is obvious throughout.

The artists were chosen from different countries and disciplines. Some are conceptual artists, others graphic artists and very few of the artists have ever met. The countries the artists represent are spread across the globe, from Turkey to Indonesia and from France to the United States.

The 14 participating artists are Ahmet Öğüt, Mandy El-Sayegh, Chris Haughton, Joan Cornellà, Rafaela Drazic, Frank Arbelo, Dima Kashtalyan, Zbyněk Baladran, Clive Russell, Gianluca Costantini, Matt Jones, Kolya Oleynikov, BOLOHO, and Miles Glyn.

Printed posters will be available separately, and as an A2-booklet soon and showcased in stores across the UK and USA thanks to FSG and Penguin/Allen Lane. Watch this space for more information.

You can download a free A2 booklet of the posters on the DGI website.
