The origin of everything was triggered by a typhoon.
In September 2024, after the Super Typhoon Yagi battered an urban village in Haikou, widespread power outages engulfed the area. Up until the final moments before the storm hit, children’s laughter still echoed across the playground. Amid the surrounding devastation, the playground remained miraculously intact. This stark contrast sparked an idea: What if these play structures could convert children’s movements into electricity?
This vision gave birth to “HappyPower.” More than just playground equipment, it is an energy conversion system that transforms play into sustainable energy. The concept grew from our “Playground without Walls” initiative, which explores how to merge children’s creativity, playful spirit, and communal participation into solutions for shared challenges.

At HappyPower’s first sharing session, as the event drew to a close, we invited everyone to share their favorite childhood games. When this topic arose, smiles blossomed on every face. In “Playground without Walls,” we often hear friends express admiration for children – their vitality, energy, their courage and problem-solving abilities. Yet that childhood power doesn’t reside in anyone else, or rather, it has never existed outside of us. We all occasionally recall our younger selves exploring ruins, playing in “dangerous” playgrounds – versions of ourselves that radiated with vitality. We simply forgot this power as we grew older. This strength has never been elsewhere – it lives within our own hearts. What we need to do is remember it. May HappyPower walk with you in awakening this power.
