This event took place near Wall st., and participants really took this to heart.

Many passers-by who joined in were very upset with electoral politics, and wanted to write about what they didn’t want. However, once they saw the tree of knowledge and fruit, the discussion on street plant selection, and free bikes chalked on the ground, they quickly began imagining what they wanted to see in the future, rather than what they didn’t want to see in the present.
Yet again, New Yorkers seem to focus most on flowers and animals, of all types. Participants wanted to share their space with nature.
New uses for the skyscrapers that surrounded us were found, and new activities to do in the streets were thought up and celebrated. As time went on, more conversation came around to making use of all the empty office space that was clearly visible. This resulted in some text related to the luxury apartment building next door, which the management at that building did not appreciate.
After most had left, the work was washed away by a worker who was forced to wash on his lunch break.

The theme this week is: PROTEST (Public ReOrganizing To Excitedly Stop Tyranny)
What does New York look like after the final big protest? How do we occupy this Wall Street? What do we do with all this space? What goes in all these buildings? Does anything go in these buildings?
Food and chalk will be provided!

Re-imagine New York with us. Every week, we will decide together what’s missing, then bring it into chalky existence. Become Robert Moses’ worst nightmare! (Almost) Every Friday this summer, we are bringing the chalk. All we need from you is your understanding of the city, your doodling abilities, and a desire to use our state-of-the-art chalk protractor.
and… Here is our Manifesto!
