Silvia Federici is a feminist activist, scholar, teacher and renowned political theorist. In 1972, she co-founded the International Feminist Collective, which launched the campaign Wages for Housework. She is professor emerita at Hofstra University and previously taught in Nigeria. She is also one of the co-founders of the Committee for Academic Freedom in Africa, which generates support for the struggles of students and teachers in Africa against the structural adjustment of African economies and education systems. Some of her books include Caliban and the Witch: Women, the Body and Primitive Accumulation (2004), Re-enchanting the World: Feminism and the Politics of the Commons (2018), Witches, Witch-Hunting, and Women (2018) and Beyond the periphery of the skin: rethinking, remaking, reclaiming the body in contemporary capitalism (2020).
